Green witch Pax Thatcher leads a busy life. Between working two jobs, applying to grad school, and helping out at the old herb shop that belongs to her friend and mentor, Miss Millie, Pax doesn’t have much time for practicing spells. She’s lucky she can keep her enormous plant collection alive.

Fortunately, she can talk to her plants, and they talk back.

But when Pax arrives for a visit to her seaside hometown of Honesty Harbor, Maine, and discovers Miss Millie is missing, she drops everything to find her. When she does, it’s just in time to hear Miss Millie’s dying words:

Unable to believe anyone would want to murder the kind old woman, Pax vows to fulfill Miss Millie’s last request. But how can a boring little witch who doesn’t even own a cauldron solve a murder? Ask the only witness—a potted plant—what happened.

But the more she listens to her leafy allies, the more questions she has. And when others begin to view her as the prime suspect, Pax must hurry to weed out the killer before someone else gets whacked.

Pax Hawthorne (née Thatcher) has inherited a new name and a legacy she isn’t sure she wants. And now her deceased mentor’s herb shop belongs to her too.
It’s a lot to process, so when the opportunity arrives to escape for a day and check out an exhibit of ancient plants, Pax and her best friend, Sam, jump at the chance for a little R&R.

When they arrive, however, instead of cool flowers, they find a lonely ghost in need of their help. She’s been haunting the Gilded Age mansion on the property for over a century, unable to remember how she died. Hoping that discovering the answer will let their new friend rest in peace, Pax and Sam start digging for clues.

But the more truth they uproot, the more it seems there’s something much darker that would prefer the past stay buried. And when this dark force proves it isn’t afraid to play dirty to stop the investigation, Pax must call upon her floral friends for help, or else she may join her ghostly friend in the afterlife.

A Noreaster is coming to Honesty Harbor, but the real danger isn’t from the storm.

The entire town is hunkered down so there’s not much else to do but gossip about the famous people staying at the bed and breakfast.

Until actress, Sabeen, comes running out of the woods, screaming. Pax rushes to investigate the cause but returns with more questions than before. She doesn’t believe that Sabeen saw a “mountain lion attack” in the forest and neither do the trees.

When a mysterious stranger arrives, it’s clear that he knows more than he’s letting on. Especially as more people go missing, leaving only bloody tracks behind.
