The Pecan Texas Pet Groomer Cozy Mysteries
A Dashie Discovery

A Dashie Discovery

Ex hairdresser Leslie Winters moves back home to Pecan, Texas after her good-for-nothing-high-school-sweetheart, and now ex-husband, left her for one of her clients.

Now sheโ€™s taken up grooming pets, since she thought theyโ€™d be easier to deal with than gossiping locals.

Living with her parents and working out of her dadโ€™s old shed isnโ€™t ideal, but as daddy always says, you gotta start somewhere.

While taking a pair of Pomeranians home, sheโ€™s shocked to find their owner, Mr. Williams, in his hot tub wearing nothing but a tiny swimsuit, his Stetson, and a bullet to the head!

A Pom-Pom Premise

A Pom-Pom Premise

My dog grooming business has picked up big time, thanks in part to my role in solving a local murder. Now Iโ€™ve got more dogs than I can handleโ€”and a fresh case to solve. Who needs time for a personal life, am I right?

Unfortunately, it seems like everyone had a bone to pick with Joey Atkins, local dog breeder and recent murder victim. Yup, his list of disgruntled clients is more than I can shake a stick at, including a good friend of mine who just might be the prime suspect.

Itโ€™s enough to make me barking mad, especially when the situation turns ruff. Can I sniff out the killer, or will this case have me running away with my tail between my legs?

A Poodle Perplexity

A Poodle Perplexity

After solving two small-town murders, Iโ€™d thought Iโ€™d seen everything. Cue the last thing I ever expected to happenโ€”a dog wedding.

Of course, my best friend is bothered when the owner-of-the-bride selects her rival baker to make the posh cake for her poodle pair. So when said rival turns up dead, everyone is quick to point their fingers straight at my bestie.

I, for one, know everyoneโ€™s barking up the wrong tree, but the evidence against her is already stacking up like layers of one magnificent murder cake.

Doggone it, I canโ€™t keep my nose out of this one, no matter what my kind-of, sort-of detective boyfriend demands. Itโ€™s time to put all my hard-earned skills as an amateur sleuth to the test. My best friendโ€™s careerโ€”and her freedomโ€”is riding on it.

A Corgi Conundrum

A Corgi Conundrum

You would think Iโ€™d have my life together after helping to solve a few small-town murders and launching a thriving dog grooming business.

But, I,ย Leslie Winters,ย am the definition of a dog chasing its tail.

Since my lovely boyfriend, Detective Adam Waltz, hasnโ€™t popped the question, I figure helping my best friendโ€™s husband out and subbing in the ag department to teach the kids dog grooming was a good way toย spend my free timeย ย and earn some extra money.

I didnโ€™t expect to find the middle-school secretary dead in the ag barn, let alone her corgi leading me right to the body.

Adam tells me to stay out of this crime, but this was on my turf. If someone has a chance to get to the bottom of who would poison an innocent old ladyย in the barn, well, itโ€™s going to be the bestโ€”and onlyโ€”dog groomer and substitute agriculture teacher in Pecan, Texas.

Regardless of the danger barking my way.

A Golden Guilt Trip

A Golden Guilt Trip

The difference between saying whatโ€™s on your mind and minding what you say can be deadlyโ€ฆ

I never thought Iโ€™d be back in my hometown of Pecan, Texas, grooming dogs or solving murders, let alone find success at both.

But now that my boyfriendโ€”I mean, fiancรฉโ€”Detective Adam Waltz has put a ring on my finger, itโ€™s time to start getting serious about the future. And that includes a storefront for my mobile grooming business.

However, Councilman Rodriguez is determined to prevent that dream from happening, even if he canโ€™t give his own golden retriever a haircut to save his life. In hindsight, I maybe should have kept that opinion to myself, however, because now the councilmanโ€™s six feet under and Iโ€™m the prime suspect in his murder.

Can my tail-wagging counterparts and loyal friends help me find the real killer, or will I be found guilty and forced to eat kibble with the jailhouse dogs?

A Wiener Dog Wedding

A Wiener Dog Wedding

Whatโ€™s a wedding without a murder?

Detective Adam Waltz and I are finally tying the knot. And since this is my second marriage, I donโ€™t want a big wedding, just something uncomplicated that reflects small-town Texas and definitely includes all of our dogs. So a meeting with the police departmentโ€™s chaplain to discuss the I dos will be easy peezy, lemon squeezy.

Instead, we find our officiant dead in his cheesyโ€”dip, that is.
โ€Œ
But was the nice old man the real target of a murderer? Or is someone trying to stop Adam and me from finally getting our happily ever after? Now itโ€™s going to take the whole townโ€”plus a pup or two or sixโ€”to help us plan this wedding and find out who is after us, before we end up drowning face down in the queso ourselves.
